Supercars / Exotic cars

Supercars / Exotic cars:

A Supercar is a sports car, typically an exotic or rare one, whose performance is highly superlative to its contemporary sports cars. They are pure bestial look and performance. Even if you never own one of these they will change the way you feel about cars just by looking at them.

Pagani C9 spied testing in South Africa

Pagani C9 spied testing in South Africa

The new Pagani C9 supercar was recently spotten doing some test runs in Upington, South Africa where the car was being put through a rigorous hot weather test – temperatures were taken at around 39°C (102°F) - near the Kalahari desert. By all indications, it seems to be getting its pistons running in time for its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

The C9 – not it’s official name, as we’ve been told – will be succeeding the highly-successful Zonda supercar and much like its predecessor, the C9 packs power and speed to the absolute brim. Powered by an AMG Mercedes 6.0-liter V12 bi-turbo engine that’s capable of producing in excess of 700 horsepower and over 1000Nm of torque, the supercar also comes with about 3,770 new parts including a carbon-titanium chassis, specially developed Pirelli tires, and Bosch electronics.

Needless to say, the C9 looks every bit as tasty as the Zonda supercar.

For a car brand that rarely makes a splash in the news these days, the unveiling of the C9 supercar has made Pagani one of the most highly-anticipated attractions at the Geneva Motor Show. And if the C9 can live up to the high expectations set forth by the Zonda, then you can bet that Pagani’s new supercar will attract more than its fair share of customers.

2012 Ferrari F70 rendered

2012 Ferrari F70 rendered

After last week’s announcement that the Italian automaker Ferrari is planning on topping off their lineup of exotic dream machines with an all new super car to head up the high performance lineup and celebrate nearly 70 years of success with a car that is currently codenamed the F70. The new super car will serve as a successor to the Enzo and there are also rumors flying around that it will also be offered as a hybrid.

Like the lightweight Mille Chili concept, Ferrari will focus on reducing the next generation halo car’s mass in an attempt to increase speed and handling without necessarily having to force more air and fuel into the F70’s combustion chambers. The way it looks now, the F70 will be based around a compact footprint and weigh in at no more than 1,000 kilograms. Meanwhile under the rear deck lid there is rumored to sit a supercharged V8 making a maximum output of 700 HP when it is unveiled in 2012. Like Enzo Ferrari always said, build one less then you think you can sell, so the very special F70 will be limited to only 399 units.

Be careful what you post on the YouTube, St. Louis exotic car employee nailed for doing 150 MPH in an LP 670-4 SV

Be careful what you post on the YouTube, St. Louis exotic car employee nailed for doing 150 MPH in an LP 670-4 SV

There are plenty of people guilty of posting some pretty stupid things on YouTube, however this one takes the cake. Apparently a pair of salesmen at a St. Louis exotic car dealership wanting to be more like Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond than a couple of intelligent employees posted a few of their high speed antics behind the wheel of a few super cars, like the ultra exotic Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SV, on the internet showing the world how they deliberately disobeyed the speed limit on public roads with traffic all around them.

It was kind of funny how the St. Louis FOX afiliate made such a big deal about the driver doing 150 MPH in the "slow lane," the way we figure, doing those kinds of speeds outside of the Autobahn is a bad idea no matter which lane you’re in. Hopefully the lesson to be learned is this; if you are going to do something as stupid as this and share it with the entire world on the internet, you might as well be smart enough to take a few precautions not to incriminate yourself. Steps like not showing your face on camera or the place where you work, even blanking out the license plate. However some people just aren’t that bright, and it is thanks to those individuals that we can all feel a little smarter.

Video: Ferrari unleashes 599XX out on track in Valencia

If you recall last year’s Geneva Motor Show, Ferrari thrilled us with the debut of the Ferrari 599XX, but since then, the Prancing Horse has relegated the supercar to dealership or show floor duties; not once have we seen it out on the road or on track unleashing its holy fury for all of us to behold.

Well, it’s been almost one year and finally, Ferrari has finally let the 599XX out of its cage.

Led by Formula One driver Felipe Massa, a group of six other drivers, all of who are members of Ferrari’s Corse Clienti program converged at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia, Spain to do a run on-board the 599XX – all seven of them.

If first impressions are any indication, then you can just imagine our giddiness when we saw this video of seven 599XXs in action for the first time. We won’t spoil anything or keep you waiting so go ahead and watch it for yourselves.

"Is it still a car?": Mercedes launches new IMC campaign for SLS AMG Gullwing

"Is it still a car?": Mercedes launches new IMC campaign for SLS AMG Gullwing

If there’s one car that probably doesn’t need any more advertising and promotion, it’s the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Gullwing.

Ever since it premiered at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the SLS AMG has pretty much been an attention magnet, becoming the toast of the town everywhere it goes.

That being said, Mercedes has apparently decided that their new supercar still needed a little bit more attention so they came out with a new integrated marketing communications campaign for the SLS AMG that’s centered around the question, “is it still a car?”

Now if you’re basing it on the traditional definition of a car – that it has an engine, four wheels, and can move – then yeah, it’s still a car. But if you’ve been watching some of the promotional videos surrounding the SLS AMG – especially the one where it makes a full revolution on a tunnel – then you can probably have valid reason to ask yourself that question without sounding like a loony.

As part of their marketing campaign, Mercedes is taking on all sorts of mediums and avenues to promote the SLS AMG, including the use of both traditional and non-traditional media. The car is scheduled to be featured in a number of dailies and magazines, social network sites like Facebook and Twitter, and even a new iPhone app called – what else – the “SLS AMG”, a virtual driving application where users get the chance to get behind the wheel of Mercedes’ new supercar.

It’s not really our place to tell Mercedes what they can and can’t do so if they want to continue to brand the SLS AMG, then that’s their call. It’s just that as far as we’re concerned, the car is one of those rare models that gravitates attention just by showing up.

Ferrari F430 Spider falls off delivery truck

There are car crashes that can be attributed to drivers going a little bit too fast with their cars while there are those that you can blame entirely on unforeseen circumstances.

Then there are crashes like this one.

We’re foggy on the details as to how this Ferrari F430 Spider ended up like this but from what we’ve heard, it apparently fell off from the top level of a delivery truck while it was being transported at a local luxury car dealership just outside of Boston.

There’s really nothing much to say except that whatever caused this F430 Spyder to fall from a delivery truck can be traced to just one thing – someone wasn’t paying a whole lot of attention in strapping this baby down. And yes, when it involves supercars like this one, it hurts a little more than if this were just any other car.

Bugatti Veyron for sale in the Netherlands; comes with own trasport truck

If you’re not content with buying just any other Bugatti Veyron, then you might be interested in this particular 2007 light blue Veyron that comes with its very own Bugatti-detailed Mercedes Atego car transporter.

The car and transporter package is being sold for $1,264,815 at Cragslist. In this day and age, Bugatti Veyron owners are as rare as the supercar itself so for those owning one, it takes a little something extra to stand out from your peers. That’s where the Atego transporter, which comes with a matching paint scheme, Bugatti logos, and a car ramp, comes in.

The car and transporter is currently located in the Netherlands where it is available at van Vliet Personenauto’s. Interested buyers outside of the country may have to shell out a few more wad for shipping and transport.
